Cote d'Ivoire's media regulatory council (CNP) on Friday accused a grouping of pro-Ouattara newspapers of calling for the killing of the organization's members.
While speaking on the state owned television, the CNP spokesman Cesar Etou said there had been physical threats against members of this institution.
"These threats are serious because on the night of March 24 and 25 Fashion Jewelry, a member of this regulatory body was attacked at his home by unknown people Tiffany," he revealed.
"CNP would like to condemn the repeated threats of death against its members Designer Jewelry," Etou noted while at the same time calling for professionalism among Cote d'Ivoire journalists.
Six pro-Ouattara newspapers suspended their publications "for 72 hours" starting Thursday to stand in solidarity with other two newspapers in their camp that had been arbitrarily suspended by CNP.
The pro-Ouattara newspapers equally condemned the continued acts of intimidation and threats that they had been subjected to and accused the media regulatory council of trying to muzzle pro-Ouattara newspapers.
